STUDENT GROWTH TO MASTERY Workshops
Focused Improvement
Overview
Student Growth & Academic Leadership Workshops
Student Growth to Mastery Workshops are built to provide educational leaders the tools to clearly communicate a concise, data-driven plan that will inspire and motivate stakeholders to join the mission. With a unified, high-impact focus, participants will have the tools to assist those they support in appropriate student goal-setting, data-monitoring, and professional development to deliberately address student growth to mastery systematically throughout the year.
Workshops will be held regionally and require prior registration through your school district. For workshop dates and registration, please visit our event calendar.
Part I: STUdent growth to mastery
This collaborative course provides information and processes to deepen educators' understanding of Louisiana School Accountability Data and its connection to everyday classroom practice. Participants investigate the components of DPS and SPS, their calculations, and their connections to curriculum with a concentration on the components of Achieve and Grow (ELPT is included beginning 2025). This understanding allows leaders to assist those they support in setting and monitoring data-appropriate goals and creates a clear picture of where districts, schools, and teachers are, so they can begin deliberately addressing student growth.
(This is recommended as a prerequisite to Part II.)
Part II: Student Growth to Mastery
(Systems and Structures)
Following a quick review of Part I, educational leaders will address ELA and Math data using LDOE resources for student growth. Upon completion, participants will be able to provide a framework to effectively plan professional development throughout the year to deliberately address student growth at all achievement levels in ELA and Math. Student goal-setting and ways to monitor success will be clear and evident. Leaders will be able to monitor and support professional development focused on the right work of ELA and Math throughout the year.
*Expertise in ELA and Math is not necessary to successfully complete this course, and the system can be applied to any tested grade level.
(Part I: Student Growth to Mastery is highly recommended as a prerequisite to Part II.)
Part II: Math
Part II: ELA and Math are very similar workshops that differ by their subject-specific focus. Following a quick review of Part I, we will concentrate on analyzing Math data and how it reflects the work of the classroom. Educational leaders will then learn how to address Math data using LDOE resources for student growth. Upon completion, participants will be able to provide a framework to effectively plan PLCs throughout the year to deliberately address student growth at all achievement levels in Math. Goal-setting and ways to monitor success will be clear and evident. Leaders will be able to monitor and support professional development focused on the right work of Math throughout the year.
*Expertise in Math is not necessary to successfully complete this course, and the system can be applied to any grade level.
(Part I: Student Growth to Mastery is highly recommended as a prerequisite to Part II.)
ACADEMIC LEADERSHIP
This workshop assists school leaders with the design and implementation of a focused professional development and observation process that addresses the need to increase student proficiency and build team capacity to provide 100% of the curriculum. This will be accomplished by diving deeper into the knowledge, resources, and processes leaders need to create masters of curriculum. Accountability and observation data will be used to monitor, support, and evaluate these efforts throughout the school year.
(Parts I and II are recommended prior to attendance of the Academic Leadership workshop.)
